At the Beginning

The "Caloria" Students' Scientific Association, celebrating its forty years of operation, was  established in  1961 by Tadeusz Filar (first from the right)  and R. Woźniacki (first from the left), members of the then Department of Heat Economy who were also the Association's scientific supervisors.
The founders' idea was to expand students' interests beyond the obligatory curriculum. That idea was also further developed by another group of supervisors, former students and later active members  of  the  Association, B. Kołczakowski, Z. Woźniacki, A. Ciężak, K. Karczewski, and L. Kurcz - current scientific supervisor.
In  1983,  the Association  was  officially  registered  as "The Students' Scientific Association of the Metallurgical Division of the Scientific Associations in the University of Mining and Metallurgy (AGH)". In 1992, the members supplemented the Association's name by the graceful designation of "Caloria" which reflected the general character of the scientific activities conducted by the Association.
This is the shortest history of the Students' Scientific Association, known to our members and supporters as simply the "Caloria".
